To be able to use your DSP further the basic requirements for the app have to be:

Abstract:

Details can be found under: What do I need to use the I-BUS app?

Android radio settings

As the BMW DSP amp itself has an Equalizer, Fader, Balance etc., ALL settings in the Equalizer, Fader, Balance, Loudness, DSP etc. must be deactivated or set to "neutral/FLAT" in the Android radio itself!

Please set all corresponding settings ONLY in the I-BUS app in the "DSP" menu (press the DSP button on the start page of the app for 1 second).

Equalizer:

  • set source
    • "radio" - standard audio input
    • "CD-changer" - Use the COAX input (Note: ONLY the DSP volume control is effective here! ==> use fixed radio volume!)
  • Changing the DSP/radio level with the Volume slider (the "fixed" volume depending on the operating mode set)
  • Changing the Equalizer with the sliders 80Hz - 12kHz
  • Recall and save prefabricated profiles with "Memory"

Room/Echo:

  • Changing the room and echo function with the respective slider

Tone:

  • Change balance, fader, treble and bass with the slider
  • Set neutral with "Reset button"

operation mode "fixed radio volume"

It is recommended to use the operating mode to "fixed radio volume".
This way, the volume of the Android radio is fixed and you only change the volume in the DSP itself via the I-BUS app / steering wheel buttons. This is also the factory standard solution.
In order for this to work properly, the radio must be set to a defined volume on start-up/wake-up - the so-called "boot volume". You can find more information on this in the description of the operating mode on "fixed radio volume".

Should NO sound come after successful activation of the license

=> Please check that the DSP output stage is voltage and above all a Remote gets.

If there is NO sound after successful activation of the license, only a short beep or everything stops after ~30s

=> Please perform a factory coding of the DSP power amplifier (let it do this) or follow the following steps:

Coding the DSP with the coding function of the I-BUS App

  • Open the encoding function (drag left margin to the center or touch the three dashes at the top left)
  • Select DSP from the scrolldown and tap on Read Coding
  • Set the following parameters
    • Polling Timeout: inactive.
    • Controller: mid_basis
DSP-Codierung

Important!
After coding, always switch off the ignition - wait for a second to remember - switch on the ignition. This is the only way to ensure that the new coding is accepted.

If this is not successful, please press the RESET button once in this screen.
If this does not lead to success either, the only option is correct factory coding with BMW software.
If the output stage cannot be read out, you either have a non-codable DSP1 and/or the output stage does not get a remote/the power supply is interrupted. (check fuses)

Note: To be able to code the DSP, it must be installed ex works. If the original DSP has been retrofitted, the ZCS (Central Coding Key) must also be adapted with the BMW software. Without the adaptation, the DSP will not appear in the list as an available control unit for coding.
More reasons for "no sound" after installation.

radio module and fond MID: please DISCONNET!

To avoid malfunction, the old radio module should always be disconnected electrically (ideally removed).

If a " Fond MID" (in the centre armrest) is installed from the factory in the rear, this should also be electrically disconnected!
